Update on Bishops

The former "Bishop's Land" on the corner of York Rd and Monbulk/Silvan Rd is to be developed for retail use.

The Andronicous brothers, who own and operate Fast Fuel, purchased the site late 2007.

Paul Andronicous, speaking to the m2, said that they bought the site to ensure they had some control over what was to be built opposite their service station. "We want suitable retail outlets there, businesses that are in sympathy with what already exists in Mt Evelyn. We plan to develop the site with some quality buildings that will attract more shoppers and keep Mt Evelyn looking worth visiting."

Rumours have been spreading that Woolworths had brought the land, ahead of plans to have another petrol station outlet on the site.

Paul said that any future retail facilities would be subject to Council approval, so final plans would be subject to the local planning laws, but talks with the Shire have already commenced.
