St John Ambulance
Needles and Thread Program
Needles and Thread
Program are held Mondays mornings at 70 Wray Crescent. This group
produces and donates many items for use by hospitals, childrens crisis
centres, womens crisis centres, and age care homes throughout the
world. Also seeks donations of wool, material, books, magazines, old
spectacles and used stamps.
Volunteer with the St John Ambulance
The
St John Ambulance Community Care Branch, based at Mt Evelyn is
expanding their activities of providing outings to residents of aged
care homes and seek more drivers to facilitate this very valuable and
worthwhile activity.
They are seeking volunteer who will be able to provide
a regular commitment of one day a week, or fortnight or month to enjoy
the company of our elder members as they are reĀunited with community
events and places. Full training is given, and the only requirement is
a normal car license, to drive our fully automatic 12 seater minibuses.
We particularly welcome husband and wife teams, as the other members
can also assist with our elderly passengers.
Most outings are within a hundred kms or so, and may
include a picnic, a visit to the beach, theatre, cinema, or just for a
meal out.
